The goal of the community outreach project was to provide a new, top-quality backpack filled with grade-specific supplies, PPE, and hand sanitizers to every child who took part in the West Las Vegas Arts Center’s summer camp program that needs one before their first day of school. With the needs of these students at heart, the community service project was organized by Kenneth Cottrell and Brenda Horbulewicz of Nevada Bio-Hazard Decon Team; Douglas Gibson of the 100 Black Men of Las Vegas Inc.; and Vinay Bararia, MD of TrimCare.
Speaking about the outreach, Kenneth Cottrell, Director of Operations at Nevada Bio-Hazard Decon Team, said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.” Along the same lines, Vinay Bararia, Chief Administrator at TrimCare, added that “Volunteering and community service are at the very core of being a human. No one has made it through life without someone else’s help.”
The West Las Vegas Art Center is located at 947 W Lake Mead Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89106. West Las Vegas Arts Center has been home to the Performing & Visual Arts Summer Camp for Kids, providing community youth with opportunities for civil engagement through arts education.
